National Super League side Mully Children’s Family (MCF)
coach Vincent Nyaberi is confident he will guide the team to the Kenyan Premier
League.
Nyaberi has beefed up the squad by signing 14 youthful and
experienced players ahead of the 2025/26 season. In addition, 10 players who were
deemed surplus to requirements were released.
“We signed four players who have Kenyan Premier League
experience. This will provide us with the necessary experience and guidance for
young players. These are players I have worked with elsewhere,” said Nyaberi.
The players with top-tier experience are goalkeeper Brian
Omondi from Mara Sugar, centre back Brian Ochieng from Shabana, midfielders
John Mwita from Mara Sugar, and Eric Michibu from Bidco United.
Others are goalkeeper Jesse Inanga from Terror
Squad, midfielders Larry Odhiambo (3K FC), Ben Junior (Awakening Lions), Joseph
Odongo (Samwest Blackboots), Festo Omukoto (AP Seal FC), and Batts Awita from
Migori Youth.
The strikers are Kendrick Ozere from Samwest Blackboots,
Kevin Ouma from Manyatta FC, John Mumbua from Matuu Heroes, and centreback
Yusuf Mohammed from Muhoroni Youth.
Coach Nyaberi added: “Our target is to qualify for the top-tier
league next season. We had a perfect pre-season and we don’t have any reason to
complain.”
The CAF 'B' tactician said they will play their home games at Mully Sports Complex in Yatta, Machakos County.
“For the first time since the team was founded, we shall
play our home games at our base. Previously, we used to play our games at Kenyatta
Stadium in Machakos, denying us the home advantage,” remarked Nyaberi.
He said the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee inspected
the facility and gave them the go-ahead. “The recommendations they
gave are being worked on and will be completed before the league starts,” added
the coach.
MCF were supposed to start their campaign this weekend
against Mombasa United, but the league kick-off has been suspended by the
Sports Disputes Tribunal following a court dispute over the promotion of Soy
United and Compel FC.
Gucha FC challenged the decision to be stripped of the
qualification slot by the football governing body after they were found guilty
of fielding an ineligible player against Nakuru Bucks. The tribunal ordered the
game to be replayed.
