Kenyan Premier League side Tusker FC
have promoted promising forward Douglas Omanga to
the senior team ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The youngster, who has impressed with his technical ability and composure in midfield, is the third graduate in Charles Okere's team for the new season, alongside striker David Polepole and George Odhiambo.
Omanga has been a standout
performer in the youth team, catching the eye with his work rate, vision and
confidence on the ball. He was included in two matchday squads last season but did not feature in any.
“This is a very proud moment for me and my family. I have worked hard in the youth team, and getting this opportunity motivates me to push even more. I want to learn from the experienced players and contribute to the success of the team. I have been working hard towards this and looking forward to getting this chance,” he said.
“This is a huge morale booster not only to me but to the entire (Tusker) Youth Team. They now see that whatever you do down there is being noticed and there
is a pathway for youngsters into the senior team.”
Coach Okere hailed Omanga’s progress,
noting that his promotion is a sign of the club’s commitment to nurturing young
players.
“Douglas is a player we have had for a few seasons. He has shown great discipline and consistency. He has the right attitude,
which is very important, and we believe he has what it takes to adapt to the
demands of senior football. We plan to give him the right environment to
grow and gradually integrate him into competitive matches,” Okere stated.
Youth Team coach Peter Kariuki,
who worked with Omanga in his development, praised the midfielder’s
determination.
“Douglas is a player who always stood out because of his hunger to improve. He has put in the hard work every single day, and this promotion is well-deserved. I am confident he will continue to shine and make Tusker proud,” Kariuki said.
