NITA Nairobi dominates KETISA term two games in Kisii

The National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), Nairobi, dominated the Kenya Technical Sports Association (KETISA) Term Two games, which concluded at Kisii School on Tuesday.

NITA Nairobi bagged the overall title to beat 14 other institutions during the three-day championship. Last year’s overall champions, the National Youth Service (NYS), did not take part in this year’s edition.

The games were hosted by the Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT), Kisii Campus.

NITA Nairobi garnered 61 points, followed in second place by NITA Athi River with 58 points, while Kenya Industrial Training Institute (KITI) wrapped up the top three positions with 57 points.

The teams competed in football, volleyball, and netball for both men and women. The championship saw NITA Nairobi retain the men’s and women’s volleyball titles during the three-day event.

In men's volleyball, NITA Nairobi edged NITA Athi River 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 26-24) in a thrilling final to retain the men’s volleyball title. They, however, surrendered the basketball titles to East Africa School of Aviation and the Railways Training Institute.

NITA Nairobi also retained the women’s volleyball title after a straight sets (25-18, 25-18, 25-14) win over NITA Athi River. The men’s football title went to NITA Kisumu after a hard-fought 6-5 penalty shootout win over NITA Mombasa. The teams drew 1-1 after extra time.

NITA Kisumu also won the men’s netball title after a 28-25 win over Kenya Water Institute (KEWI). NITA Athi River saw off KEWI 15-11 to win the women’s netball trophy.

Railways Training Institute (RTI) claimed the women’s basketball title after seeing off KITI 23-18 in a tough final. In the semis, RTI beat NITA Nairobi 25-17, while KITI defeated KITI defeated Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) 18-13.

In the men’s category, East Africa School of Aviation (EASA) beat NITA Mombasa 41-34 to win the trophy. En route to the finals, EASA edged NITA Nairobi 49-42 while NITA Mombasa beat KEWI 33-30 in a thrilling semi-final encounter.
