Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League giants Tusker FC continued to strengthen their backline, with the signing of highly-rated right back Eugene Ikutwa from Bidco United.
The 22-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the Brewers ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 season, adding strength and depth to the club’s defensive unit.
Ikutwa, known for his composure on the ball, aerial prowess, and speed on the wing, has been a standout performer for Bidco over the past two seasons.
His consistent displays have earned him a reputation as one of the league’s most promising young defenders.
“We are thrilled to bring Eugene on board. He is a talented and disciplined player who fits perfectly into our style of play. His arrival will give us more options at the back and help us in our push for silverware this season," said Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere. Okere added: "He is young and talented and will serve this club for a good time.”
Speaking after signing his contract, Ikutwa expressed his excitement about joining one of Kenya’s most decorated football clubs.
“It’s an honour to join Tusker FC, and I am delighted. As a player growing up, you always aspire to play for a big club, and Tusker is one of those teams you have on your wishlist. This is a team known for their reputation of winning titles, and I want to challenge myself at such a stage," he remarked.
He added: This is a big step in my career, and I’m ready to give everything for the badge. I’m looking forward to working with the coach and my new teammates."
The club is confident that Ikutwa’s addition will significantly bolster the squad as preparations intensify for the new campaign.

He becomes the second player to join the Ruaraka-based side after midfielder Vincent Owino.

Ikutwa's move also follows the promotion of two standout talents—striker David Polepole and defender George Odhiambo from the youth ranks ahead of the upcoming FKF Premier League season.

The duo has impressed the technical bench with their dedication, skill, and consistency, earning their places among the senior squad after a series of strong performances in the junior ranks and during recent training sessions and match day experiences with the first team.

Polepole, a commanding presence in attack, has been a key figure in the youth team’s forward line. He has been in sizzling form this season, scoring 15 goals and assisting six. His form saw him included in the senior team squad several times and played in five matches, scoring once and assisting twice. His run was only halted by a stubborn groin injury.

Odhiambo is a hard-tackling and commanding defender and has been equally influential. His leadership both on and off the pitch has been the pillar of the Youth Team for the last three seasons, with the last two seeing him lead as captain.

This season, he accumulated good numbers for a central defender, scoring four goals and assisting five. He has also earned call-ups to the senior team thrice. Tusker last week parted ways with nine players.
