Kenya Police FC head coach Etienne Ndayiragije has declared his charges the new Kenya Premier League champions with two fixtures left on the card.
"We already have both legs on the winners' podium at this point, and I doubt that Gor Mahia, our only real threat left, can stop us from winning the title," he stated.
"Our goal is to defeat Shabana and Gor in our final two games to finish strong. He declared, "We will not permit anyone to destroy our aspirations for titles."
"Considering how badly they played in their most recent league match against the AFC Leopards, I do not think Gor pose much of a threat.
"If they had won the match, we might have been having a different conversation," he continued.
He highlighted the team's early-season difficulties when they were firmly rooted at the bottom of the table and credited perseverance and dedication for their incredible comeback.
The law enforcers will battle Kisii-based Shabana in their final league encounter, but Ndayiragije views it as a dead rubber match even though they require at least a win or a draw to lift the title.
"There is a buzzing atmosphere in our camp, given that we are about to write a new chapter in history. Every member of the team is thrilled.
"Now, we just need to finish the job in our next game," Ndayiragije stated.
Police sit pretty atop the league standings with 61 points, holding a six-point lead over second-placed Gor Mahia and third-placed Tusker FC, with only two matches remaining.
They will lock horns with K'Ogalo in the season's final encounter.
Gor Mahia’s title defence charge suffered a huge setback following a drab one-all draw with arch-rivals AFC Leopards in the Mashemeji Derby at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay on Monday.
