150 swimming participants to grace officiating clinic at Zetech University

Over 150 swimming participants have registered for the Kiambu Aquatics Clinic slated for this Saturday at Zetech University

The pivotal clinic, led by World Aquatics accredited officials aims to elevate the standards of swimming competitions by providing upcoming officials with the essential skills for flawless meet management.

According to the event organisers, it's a clarion call to coaches, parents, elite swimmers, and other stakeholders to be part of this transformative sporting event.

Speaking Thursday, Kiambu Aquatics Technical Committee Chairperson, Nahashon Otieno outlined the association's strategic initiative for well-structured and efficiently conducted meets:

"Going forward, the association would only hire officials who have earned specific certifications, ensuring a high level of professionalism and competence in future events,” added Otieno

Otieno expressed confidence in the World Aquatics Swimming Officiating Clinic to be held in Kenya next month and drawing participants from across Africa.

"This is a big event for us World Aquatics and also for Kenya to host an event of this magnitude and we are looking forward to it” observed Otieno

Otieno has asked stakeholders to invest in education and specialized training courses that aim to raise the bar for swimming standards nationwide.

"We are asking all our affiliates to send their representatives for this course as we seek to improve swimming officiating standards in the country,” he added

Elsewhere Eldoret-based swimming club Torpedo plans to host a swimming camp during the upcoming April School Holiday, providing intensive training sessions at Testimony School and Rupaz Indoor Pool.

This camp will focus on refining fundamental techniques, bolstering endurance, perfecting turns, and enhancing dives, ensuring that Torpedo's swimmers are primed for success at every level of competition.

The swim club have invested in state-of-the-art equipment which includes ankle buoys to pace clocks, from stretch cords to snorkels among others.

The Club are using the camp to prepare for the Kenya Aquatics Nationals Swimming Championship in May, intending to win the championship
