Ulinzi shoot down TUK students in KHF duel

Ulinzi beat Technical University of Kenya 33-21 in a Kenya Handball Federation league encounter at the Nyayo Stadium gymnasium on Sunday.

The soldiers, playing their first match since December, took a 17-11 advantage at halftime and went all the way.

Nicholas Ireri led the scoring tally for the Defence Forces side with eight goals while Abel Weru and Billycliff Wanjala had four each. Julius Nganga provided four for the losers.

Ulinzi Sharks also had it easy in the women’s division ripped National Youth Service (NYS) 47-20. They led 24-9 at the break.

Sharks’ top scorer Sarah Wasike was on top of her game with 14 points as Pauline Awuor added nine. Sharks also ripped Amazon 45-9 as Wasike again topped the scoring chart with another 12-goal tally.

National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB), up 15-13 at the break, saw off Rising Stars 34-23.

Naomy Muyuka and Joan Akinyi tallied nine goals each for the millers, who are second behind champions Nairobi Water Queens.

Water had 11 goals from Eucabeth Gail and six from Brenda Musambai as they clobbered Mountain Queens 42-13. They led 20-10 at halftime.

They also banked Daystar University 35-20 as Marina Andala and Gail bagged six and eight goals respectively. In their earlier game,

NCPB crushed NYS 42-28 as Muyuka buried 10 goals. NYS earned two easy points on a walkover against Technical University of Kenya (TUK).

Eshiton Shituma grabbed eight goals as Strathmore University downed Engineers 29-28. Engineers also fell 33-26 to Buccaneers as Randy Ochieng hit the winners’ 13.
