Ruto makes new appointments to state institutions

President William Ruto has made new appointments in state offices.

The President has appointed Francis Muthaura as the Chancellor of Kenyatta University.

In a gazette notice dated January 10, the President said Muthaura will serve for five years.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 38 (1) (a) of the Universities Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Francis Muthaura to be the Chancellor of the Kenyatta University, for five years," the gazette notice read.

The President directed that Muthaura start his role on January 12, 2024.

Ruto further appointed Charles Nyachae as the chairperson of the Council of Kenya School of Government.

In a gazette notice dated January 18, 2024, the President said Nyachae will serve from January 24, 2024, to July 12, 2025.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 (3) of the State Corporations Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Charles Nyachae to be the Chairperson of the Council of the Kenya School of Government, with effect from January 19, 2024, up to July 12, 2025," the notice read.

The President revoked the appointment of Njoki Kahiga.

Cabinet secretaries also made appointments in their ministries.

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has appointed Winnie Wangui Mwaito to be a member of the Council of Karatina University for three years.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 (1) of the Universities Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints—Under paragraph (d) Winnie Wangui Mwaito be a member of the Council of the Karatina University for three years, with effect from January 19, 2024," the notice read.

Public Service Performance and Delivery Management CS Moses Kuria appointed Ezekiel Otieno Owuor and Rose Ngugi to be members of the Council of the Kenya School of Government for three years.

The two newly appointed members will start their roles on January 19, 2024.

Chief Justice Martha Koome on her part appointed Valentine Khaminwa, Hassan Issack Hache, John Ekale Aruma and John Kiplagat Kiili as members of the National Civil Aviation Administrative Review Tribunal for three years.
