Homabay walloped Embu 9-0 to seal the first spot in their group and semifinal berth at the ongoing Talanta Hela U-19 tournament in Nyeri county.
The coach Ouma Omondi-tutored side will now lock horns with Kirinyaga in the semifinals slated for Wednesday.
Kirinyaga came twice from behind to hold Kwale to a two-all draw, effectively edging out Mandera who lost their final group clash to Uasin Gishu.
Ouma, however, warned his charges not to be complacent in the wake of their four-match winning streak that left them atop the pool with 12 points.
"Kirinyaga are a good side and in football, anything is bound to happen. So it is advisable to take each game seriously and try to rectify any glaring mistakes. We'll see what happens tomorrow though," Ouma remarked.
Homabay skipper Samson Onyango said they are ready to claim the scalp of their opponents as they train their sights on the finals. "We've watched a number of games Kirinyaga have played and we are not scared of them at all.
"They are a side we can easily beat. We know their weak spots and we shall use them to our own advantage," Onyango said.
He attributed their win to teamwork, adding that they have worked tirelessly in practice to achieve good results.
Onyango said they were inspired to perform well after failing to secure a berth in the national finals during the first round of the tournament which was held in August.
Uasin Gishu finished top of their group with an emphatic 3-1 win over a resilient Mandera side, thus booking a scintillating semifinal clash with Nakuru on Wednesday.
Nakuru sailed through after Kisii who could have denied them a spot crashed to Kakamega in the final group encounter.
