Over 150 swimmers have confirmed participation in the Kiambu Masters Championship slated for December 9 at Potters House School in Runda.
Kiambu County Swimming Association (KCSA) chairman Stanley Kaberu said so far three counties— Mombasa, Kisumu, and Nairobi —have confirmed participation in the one-day event.
The event will feature 25 and above and the Under-10 -18 age categories.
Kaberu said they are keen to create healthy lifestyles for the swimmers especially those aged over 25 years.
"I expect a good event as more counties continue to confirm participation. I am happy the sport is back in full swing and we expect a good turnout of swimmers,” added Kaberu.
Harpoons Swimming Club who are the defending champions of the event are among the registered participants.
Kaberu said all participants will be awarded certificates at the end of the event. "This championship is not only a competitive platform but also a social and fun event for master swimmers of all skill levels," he said.
Kaberu said some of the swimmers gracing the event will use the event as a build-up for the World Championship slated for Doha, Qatar in February next year.
“Some of the swimmers who will participate at the masters are going to use the event to improve their times and gain selection to the team,” he added.
