Champions Nairobi Water Queens coach Jack Ochieng is confident his charges will reign supreme in a crucial Kenya Handball Federation women’s league clash against Ulinzi Sharks at Nyayo Stadium.

The epic encounter, pitting two of the only unbeaten teams in the league, will tip off at mid-day. Ochieng said Water Queens, gunning for eleventh straight national champions, are unstoppable.

“We are prepared. Let them be ready for a tough game because we are not ready to lose any match. We have no choice but to win it,” said a confident-sounding Ochieng.

“My camp is ok and the girls are ready. We know they will have the crowd behind them because many feel we have been at the top for too long. It will a tough match.”

The champions warmed up for this match-up by hitting Rising Star 42-10 and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuat) 42-16 last weekend to move to the top.

However, Ochieng’s counterpart Nickson Oyaro, who was honoured last month for his service to the game, was terse. “The girls are ready for the match. It isn’t an easy match but we hope to play our game well,” he said.

The soldiers are joint-third with National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) on 14 points.

NCPB, whose only loss came against Sharks earlier in the season, face Rangers in another tough duel. The  Bungoma-based side have also lost once in their four matches.

Rangers, who are fifth on the table, will be making their second trip to the capital and are also scheduled to play National Youth Service (NYS), Daystar University and Mountain Queens.

The other matches will see Mountain Queens meet Kenyatta University, NCPB battle Kenyatta University and NYS face Jkuat on Saturday.

On Sunday, Jkuat tackle Amazon — who are fourth on seven points from three wins — and Daystar University. Kenyatta University meet bottom side New Hope and NYS.
