Chipu squad unveiled for World Rugby Under 20 Trophy

Fleet-footed Strathmore Leos winger, Vincent Omondi and back-row Nathan Tsindoli from Daystar Falcons have made the squad.

Kenya Under-20 rugby coach Curtis Olago has named a final squad of  28 players for the World Rugby Trophy scheduled for July 15-30 at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Former Kenya U-13 fly-half, Spencer Davies joins the squad from the London School of Economics, where he is pursuing history. Fleet-footed Strathmore Leos winger, Vincent Omondi and back-row Nathan Tsindoli from Daystar Falcons have also made the squad.

Full-back James Olela, who scored a memorable try for Kabras in the Enterprise Cup final alongside Andycole Omollo from MMUST, concludes the list of new additions.

Three players, who played in the Barthes Cup in April, have been dropped including William Otondi from Binghampton University, Eugene Etale (Homeboyz), and Blak Blad’s Claude Kennedy.

“It’s a massive privilege to represent Kenya and we will give it 100 percent in every department,” said Spencer Davies.

Davies was further pleased with the conditions saying, “We have a very good team, brilliant coaches as well as high spirits in camp and we are ready for any challenges.”

“The team has bonded a lot more now than before the Barthes Cup and exciting times await ahead,” he concluded.

The full squad includes Geylord Ngasi, Raymond Chacha, Brian Makaya, Wycliffe Ogutu, Dennis Kisingu, George Otieno, Mike Oduor, Jeremy Odhiambo, Andycole Omollo, Stanlaus Shikoli, Vincent Omondi, James Asanga, Idd Kuta, Jacktone Omondi, Laban Kipsang, and Nathan Tsindoli. 

Others are —Patrick Wainaina, Brian Mwendwa, Zeph Obwanga, Eddie Wambugu, Spencer Davies, Chacha Masega, Mike Wamalwa, Alvin Kalori, James Olela, Faran Juma, Raphael Wanga and Victor Odhiambo.
