Bunyore Starlets' striker Airin Madaline is keen to keep up the fire as she seeks to win the 2022/2023 Golden Boot in the Kenya Women's Premier League.

Madaline is currently on the top of the log with 17 goals ahead of Puren Alukwe of Zetech Sparks with 14.

Monica Etot of Kisumu Starlets and Wendy Atieno of Thika Queens each with 13 goals tie in the third place.

However, Atieno is currently ruled out of the league after sustaining a head injury at the start of the second leg.

Other players who have scored over 10 goals include—Maureen Achieng of Vihiga Queens with 12 goals, Jackline Chesang  (Wadadia) and Mutukiza Wambui (Gaspo) each with 11 goals.

Lydia Akoth of Gaspo and Elizabeth Muteshi of Nakuru City Queens have scored 10 goals apiece.

Madaline said she will put in all her efforts in the remaining matches to ensure she gets enough goals to emerge top scorer in the Kenya Women's Premier League.

Only two matches are remaining this season and Bunyore Starlets are set to face Trans Nzoia Falcons at Nduru Stadium in Kitale and host Nakuru City Queens at Mumboha Stadium.

Bunyore Starlets are set to visit Nduru Stadium on Sunday and later on host Nakuru City Queens in their last match of the season.

However, Madaline acknowledged support from her teammates, saying she would not have attained her current status without their contribution.

"Topping the scoring chart isn't a joke. It comes with a lot of pressure from both the coach, team-mates as well as the fans," she said.

"As the striker, when you are off the game, you must shift fast and pave the way to someone else to try her luck," she added.

She said the Golden Boots will be a stepping stone for the team to fight for the KWPL trophy come the 2023/2024 season.

Madaline expressed confidence they will survive relegation and feature in the 2023/2024 Kenya women Premier League.
