KCB rugby skipper Curtis Lilako has announced his retirement from the sport.
The announcement was made on his official Twitter account with the hashtag CL3 out with a picture of him wearing the KCB and national team jerseys
The tight-head prop had a distinguished career with both the bankers and Kenya Simbas spanning 14 years
He won the Kenya Cup title five times in 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021 as well as winning the Enterprise Cup three times in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
He was also the top try scorer during the 2015 season scoring 10 tries, a rare feat for a front-row forward.
For the national team, Lilako played for the Kenya under-20 team during the Junior World Rugby Trophy in 2009 alongside other established stalwarts like Patrice Agunda and Oscar Ouma
A year later, he joined the Simbas where he played for nine years winning the Africa Cup crown twice in 2011 and 2013.
He made 38 appearances for the Simbas with his last coming in 2019 when he captained Kenya to beat Zambia 31-16 in the Victoria Cup.
His retirement is a big blow loss to KCB but his legacy and contribution to the sport will be remembered.
His leadership, hard work and dedication to the game will serve as an inspiration to many upcoming young players.
