Comedian Eric Omondi and four others are expected in Kisumu court.
They spent the night in a Kisumu cell following their arrest on Wednesday at noon.
The comedian was arrested in Kisumu when he was leading some residents along the Jomo Kenyatta streets to protest over the high cost of living, increased fees and unemployment.
They blocked the streets while lying on the mattresses, a move that forced the police to lob teargas and arrest him.
