Malkia Strikers left attacker Veronicah Oluoch has credited coaches John Duro and Daniel Bor for playing a crucial role in her budding career.

Duro was Oluoch's coach at Sega Girls where the hard-hitting attacker honed her skills between 2015-2019. Duro also advised Oluoch to join Bor's DCI.

Oluoch enjoyed a good working relationship with the sleuths before the 23-year-old joined Peter Gitau's Kenya Pipeline at the start of this season.

She was among the five Pipeline players who did duty for Malkia Strikers at the World Championships in the Netherlands.

Oluoch's move to Pipeline was key to her selection in the national team despite playing in just two major tournaments.

"Without disrespect to Pipeline, I would be nobody were it not for Duro and Bor," said Oluoch.

"Duro forced me to ditch football for volleyball, a decision that has paid handsomely up to this point. I don't regret it. He also informed me to start small by joining DCI before joining a bigger club."

"Bor wanted the best for me and he demanded a lot in training. Probably he's the one who toughened me up. No magic in volleyball. He told me if you haven't experienced pain then there's nothing you can gain," observed Oluoch.

Oluoch's move to join Turkish top-tier side Tarsus Belediyesi Spor Kulubu is expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks. She believes that heading to Turkey will be a stepping stone to better things.

"Turkey is the best place for me to develop and an opportunity to prove my prowess with the hope of finally landing a plum deal with the world's best teams in Europe or wherever," she said.

"I am ripe for Europe. I want to pick up from where I left in the Netherlands. Clubs in Brazil and Serbia showed interest but Turkey was a priority."

Oluoch made her Malkia debut in the African Nations Championships held in Rwanda last year. She has also been named the best player in beach volleyball tournaments locally and guided Pipeline to a bronze medal at the African Women's Volleyball Club Championship mid-this year.

"The Dutch show offered me a chance to better my service and attack. Reception is still wanting. I have had an injury-free career to this point and if this continues, I believe I can play into my 40s," concluded Oluoch.
