Comedian Eric Omondi says marriage is not for unsuccessful artistes.

The self-proclaimed President of Comedy told Presenter Ali most artistes who settle down for marriages end up not producing good content.

Marriage demands commitment that requires one to be ready for it, he said.

"At the end of it all, I will get married, but marriage and art don't go hand in hand," he said.

"I have seen many artistes being forgotten because of relationships, getting lost due to love. Art requires some sought of space that marriages do not allow."

The busy schedules of most artistes is why he considers staying single.

"We have impromptu shows all over different places, and relationships need communication and commitment, responsibility and accountability," he said.

"Some people may not understand why you travelled without communicating."

Eric said marriage is even worse to artistes who are struggling in the industry.

"Any artiste who has not achieved their goals, I would never advise them to settle down," he said.

"I'm speaking from experience. I'm speaking from what I've seen."

He said he is about to achieve all his dreams and so he will eventually settle down.

Eric echoed Diamond Platnumz' statement made a few weeks ago.

The father of six said marriage slows down an artiste's career.

"I still want to give them more music. I still wanna give them more good music."

Diamond pointed out unnamed friends whom he said no longer release good music because they got married.

"That's why I feel like, let me give you guys the good music. The time I'm about to retire, I will get married."

Diamond's baby mama Tanasha rubbished those claims.

The mother of one told Word Is society's perception about marriage today is not what she believes marriage should be.

Marriage depends on both partners and the interests they have in it, she said.

Tanasha said couples can achieve their dreams while still in the institution of marriage.

"I believe you can be married and both fulfil your dreams. I don't see anything wrong with that," she said.

"I don't think everything changes when you are married and you can't fulfil your dreams anymore since you have to focus on managing the home and whatnot. It depends on the couple."
