Bees sting Boomerang as Sharks deflate Navigators in KHF action

Makueni Bees pipped Boomerang 35-31 in a Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) league match at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

The high school boys pinned the losers 18-14 at the break and did well to hang on for maximum points as Boomerang piled on the pressure.

John Abel sunk nine goals while Richard Simiyu and Yusuf Pwoka scored seven a-piece. Josephat Oigo shot eight, Robert Sano and Kelvin Mamono shot six each for the losers.

It was a sad day in the office for Boomerang as they went down 39-36 Nairobi City County (NCC) in their second game of the day.

Walter Nyongesa dropped 10 goals while Gibson Kiyari hit eight and Zedrick Kibet had seven for NCC. Oigo had eight as Moses Macharia and George Odero managed seven each.

Thika pinned down Technical University of Kenya (Tuk) 28-24 as Paul Ngige, Cyrus Ongera and Kenneth Biwott managed to hit the target five times.

In the women’s matches,  Ulinzi Sharks shot down Net Navigators 36-24 after taking a strong 17-10 halftime advantage.

Sarah Wasike scored nine goals while Jacqueline Chebet and Cappen Lunyenge each picked up six for the soldiers.

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology ladies side pipped Amazon 24-23 in another close tie.

Annette Baraza led with seven goals while Nelly Wanjiru, Magdalene Malika and Sylvia Maina contributed four each.

Amazon, who were ahead 14-11 at the breather were propelled by Sarah Gitu, who bagged seven and Elizabeth Wambui, who had four.
