Four teams will be promoted to the women's Premier League next year, Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) has announced.

Competition's fixture secretary Joseph Amoko explained that since two teams pulled out of this year's action, they will have to make some adjustments.

"The withdrawal of United States International University (USIU) and Riara University from league action reduced the teams to 10," said Amoko.

"This means that if we relegate two, we will promote four to push the number back to the required 12 again."

He said the four to be promoted will come from the three day Inter Provincial championship to be held in Eldoret this weekend."I already have confirmations of teams travelling to Eldoret for the tournament. We will get the top four from there," Amoko said.

He said the same will be done in the three lower division ties except the premier men that remains unaffected as they maintained the required 12.

Kisumu Lady Bucks relegation woes continued when they lost their two weekend league matches at home. They have won just one game.

Lakeside crushed 65-38 to Storms and 54-28 to Africa Nazarene University (ANU) to remain rooted at the base with 13 points from 13 ties.

Amoko disclosed that due to the engagement of three teams in continental competitions, the 2021 playoffs will now be held next year.

"The involvement of Ulinzi Warriors, Equity Bank and Kenya Ports Authority KPA in African tournaments means they can not be engaged in any league action,"noted Amoko.

Equity Bank and KPA are in Dar es Salaam for the FIBA Zone Five Club Championships while Ulinzi are going to Basketball Africa League (BAL) Elite 16 qualifiers.

He said the final fixture of the year will be on December 5 after that the teams will break and resume action next year.
