Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) are set to conduct the Nairobi Junior cricket league between October 10 and November 20 across seven venues in Nairobi.

NPCA fixtures secretary Vishal Bhojani said the U15 and U19 leagues will feature eight teams from clubs and academies.

“The U15 and U19 age group is a crucial one for any cricketer aspiring to play the sport professionally, but at the moment, it’s a bit unstructured and there are not too many opportunities. Our aim is to provide children in this age group a solid platform to showcase their talent,” said Bhojani.

The U15 league has six teams while the U19 has eight teams.

“It has been a fantastic start to the senior season, especially the Super League. Junior cricket is also on the rise. Behind a successful senior league there is always a junior development competition and I’m seeing great days moving forward,” NPCA chairman Kanti Rabadia said, adding that development of junior cricket is picking up well.

“It is headed in the right direction with renewed fervor and incessant improvements on the horizon. Compared to where we were a few years ago, the level of competition has improved significantly among juniors and we feel giving them a platform to play on their own is a good thing going forward. .”
