Tusker FC skipper, Hashim Sempala, has parted ways with the Ruaraka-based Football Kenya Federation Premier League side after his contract ran out on Tuesday.
Sempala, who is in his second spell with the Brewers, bid his teammates farewell at the team's training ground at Ruaraka on Tuesday morning.
Tusker chairman David Aduda confirmed Sempala’s departure, adding the Ugandan midfielder had expressed his wish to pursue a new path at the end of his contract.
“We want to thank Hashim for his services and what he has offered to the club. We had a mutual conversation where he informed us of his intention to seek greener pastures after the expiry of his contract and as a club we respected his decision,” said Aduda.
Aduda was full of good words for Sempala, saying the industrious midfielder had been instrumental in Tusker's success from the time he joined them in 2016.
“He has served us diligently and we will forever be thankful for his work and contribution to the success of the club. He starred for us as we won the double in 2016 and we have many other fond memories of his time with us. We wish him all the best in his career and his endeavours as well,” he added.
Sempala first penned a deal with Tusker in June 2016 from Bidco Uganda Limited Football Club. He formed part of the squad that steered the brewers to the Kenyan Premier League title in 2016, the same year they also won the FKF Cup double.
In April 2019, Sempala shifted base to Gor Mahia but made a quick u-turn to Ruaraka after a brief and unfruitful stint at K’Ogalo.
Sources said the brewers have embarked on a rigorous replacement process with AFC Leopards centreback Clyde Senaji also on their radar.
