Ulinzi Sharks ripped Kenyatta University 35-17 in a one-sided women’s handball league match at Nyayo Stadium yesterday. 

The soldiers led 17-10 at half-time and pulled on the strings after resumption overwhelming the campus girls.

Coach Wycliffe Juma said: “It was an easy game all through. I would have won by a much bigger margin but my team was too overconfident and did not finish the job.”

Caren Lutengeya and Valine Akoth posted eight goals each for the winners. Celyne Wabuke had (five) and Catherine Cheri (four) for KU.

The losers’ tactician Geoffrey Barasa said he was impressed with the performance of his young side especially, their improved defence.

“Despite the margin, I am happy with the defence as they are showing steady improvement. But I will have to do a lot to sharpen the offence.”

Reigning women champions, Nairobi Water slammed Amozon 47-11. Brenda Aliviza scored 10 goals, Cecilia Kioko (9) while Tracy Ongiri and Michelle Oyoo managed seven a piece.

In the men’s ties, Boomerang lost two matches, going down to Thika and Generation. They went down 38-36 to Thika. Samuel  Waiganjo rattled in 11, Bonny Kanduka hit 8 as Robert Osano and Josphat Oigo tallied eight each for the losers.
