29 players get the nod for Kenya Sevens training

Kenya Rugby Union has invited 29 players for medical assessments ahead of preparations for the upcoming season which will have the World 7s Series and Olympics campaign.

The players have started their medical and physical assessments as required by the government as well as World Rugby due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The tests started yesterday at the RFUEA ground.

Among those called is skipper Andrew Amonde, top try scorer Collins Injera, Oscar Ouma, Willy Ambaka and Oscar Dennis — who recently played for SFX10 at the world-10-aside tournament in Bermuda.

The players are expected to train in a bubble depending on the results of the tests.

World Rugby has already cancelled the opening four legs of the World Sevens Series in Dubai, Cape Town, Sydney and Hamilton due to Covid-19. The earliest the series can kickoff will be March 2021 with the Los Angeles and Vancouver tournaments.
