KCB and Kenya Prisons women's volleyball teams were bundled out of the ongoing African Club Championship in Cairo, Egypt after losing their respective final group matches on Wednesday night.

Prisons who until Wednesday's match were favoured to join GSP of Algeria and needed to win two sets to seal their quarter-final slot, succumbed to hosts El Shams 3-1 (25-18,25-20,22-25,25-21) a result that locked them out of the last eight.

That meant GSP and El Shams booked the last eight slots in pool D.

But Prisons' unfortunate and untimely exit at the event was expected as the local champions who had won their first pool matches against ASEC of Ivory Coast and Nkumba of Uganda had to withstand pressure that came with the team failing to clear the hotel bills and lack of allowances that risked them being locked out of the competition.

The east Africans will battle Sporting in one of the four quarter-finals lined up on Friday.

Other quater finals pit Champions Al Ahy against compatriots El Shams, GSP face off with Customs of Nigeria as Carthage entertain FAP.
