Gospel singer Guardian Angel and his fiancee Esther Musila went public with their relationship in 2019, eliciting mixed reactions from netizens who were concerned over the huge age difference between the two.
Guardian, 32, and Esther, 51, did not concentrate on the noise and two years later, the gospel artiste proposed to her in June this year.
Speaking during Guardian Angel's Victory album launch, Musila's two children Glen and Gilda Naibei said Guardian is their mentor.
"We had a dad, may his soul rest in peace. He was a loving father, we loved him but we lost him in 2016," Gilda said.
"I can now say I have a father in Guardian. He is more like a mentor and a friend. The reason we bonded with him well is that he didn't force how we would call him.
"He said we could ask anything from him and he was right since at times, we don't want to ask our mum anything; we just go to him and he is like, he understood we did need a mentor."
She added that their mum is young at heart.
"Even about their age, we were aware of how KOT is and so when the story started blowing up, we were expecting the trolls for some time. It's not about the age but about their good match when together," she said.
"It has never been an issue to us. People have started warming up on their union and we are happy."
Musila's son, Glen, also said they are free with Guardian Angel.
"There is no certain name I have to call him, we have fun times. We joke around a lot, he is an approachable person. He is a young guy also so we can relate and get along," he said.
Esther praised Guardian, saying he is a mentor to his three kids.
"He is probably the father they desired to have although they have their biological father," she said.
"They are friends and sometimes they even go behind my back, writing messages they want money, this and that. The relationship he has been able to build with them makes me appreciate him even more."
She said Guardian loves them like his own children.“There are things they tell him freely. They call him G.”
