Kenyan builders and developers will now have an easier way to access construction materials following the launch of a new mobile application by Jumba, a digital marketplace for building supplies.
Jumba App, unveiled in Nairobi on Tuesday, is designed to help users source construction materials more efficiently by connecting them directly with verified suppliers, allowing real-time price comparisons and online ordering.
For many years, developers and homeowners have faced challenges in sourcing construction materials—ranging from fluctuating prices to unreliable deliveries. Jumba says the app seeks to address these issues by centralizing procurement and improving transparency.
“Our mission is simple: to make building easy,” said Kagure Wamunyu, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Jumba.
“Whether you’re a developer managing multiple projects, a homeowner building your first house, or a Kenyan in the diaspora constructing a home back home, Jumba gives you confidence that what you order is what you get—on time and at the right price.”
According to the company, the app allows users to compare prices from different suppliers, order materials such as cement, steel, tiles, and paint, and have them delivered to their construction sites.

Currently, the Jumba App serves users within the Nairobi Metropolitan Area, with expansion plans underway to cover all 47 counties. Wamunyu said the app’s development was influenced by growing smartphone penetration and increased use of mobile internet in Kenya, which is transforming how consumers and businesses access goods and services.
“Builders can now source materials directly from their phones instead of making numerous calls or visiting multiple suppliers,” she said.
Jumba was founded in 2022 as a business-to-business (B2B) platform focusing on structural materials. It has since expanded into a business-to-consumer (B2C) marketplace that connects individual builders, contractors, and developers with trusted suppliers of both structural and finishing materials.
The company’s model is based on addressing inefficiencies in the construction supply chain—a sector that remains fragmented and often opaque in pricing and delivery. Jumba aims to provide a more transparent and structured marketplace that reduces procurement time and cost.
Wamunyu, a former Uber Country Manager for Kenya, brings experience in technology and logistics to Jumba’s operations, which now focus on digitizing the construction sourcing process.
According to Jumba, over 90 percent of homes in Africa are built rather than bought, making construction sourcing a critical area for innovation.
The firm believes that technology-driven solutions such as its new app can help improve access to affordable and reliable building materials for both large-scale developers and individual homeowners.
