Technology leaders and innovators were honoured for their outstanding contributions to the IT sector at the prestigious Kenya CIO 200 Summit 2025, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi Arboretum.
Hosted by the Global CIO Forum, the event brought together top decision-makers, IT professionals, and innovators committed to accelerating digital transformation across Kenya and the broader African continent.
Celebrated as a premier event for the region’s tech community, the summit recognised exceptional achievements in leadership, innovation, and impact within the technology space.
Among the standout honourees was Caleb Nyoiro, Site Director at Zone01 Kisumu, who was named winner in the leader category for his groundbreaking work in digital inclusion and youth empowerment.
"Nyoiro has been instrumental in leading Zone01 Kisumu, a grassroots initiative dedicated to equipping underprivileged youth and women with in-demand skills in software development," event organisers said in a statement.
Zone01 Kisumu offers a fully-funded, two-year intensive software development program followed by a three-year job placement through a global talent agency.
The initiative, a collaboration between LakeHub, the County Government of Kisumu, 01 Talent Africa, and United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa), is making significant strides in bridging the digital divide by expanding access to high-quality tech training in Western Kenya.
The summit not only celebrated success stories like Nyoiro’s but also served as a dynamic platform for networking, collaboration, and thought leadership.
Technology stakeholders gathered to discuss emerging trends, particularly the role of artificial intelligence in transforming African economies.
The discussions highlighted the importance of digital literacy, continuous learning, and inclusive growth, especially for young and marginalized communities.
“Events like the Kenya CIO 200 Summit are pivotal in amplifying local innovation and connecting African tech talent to global opportunities,” said one of the keynote speakers. “They spotlight the critical role of decentralizing digital empowerment to build a more resilient and equitable future.”
