Constant popping of message notifications can be annoying sometimes.

But phones have a functionality that enables you to block such notifications without necessarily switching it off.

In Silent mode, phone doesn't ring when calls or messages come in and neither do notifications pop up.

Your device will however keep lighting up every time a call, message or notification comes through.

The lighting cannot be customised, unless you switch off the phone.

But while in 'Do Not Disturb' mode, you can customis settings to allow specific numbers to ring during a call or incoming message.

You can also choose which applications to send you notifications while everything else remains on silent.

In the same mode, you can also schedule the timing at which you want to activate 'Do Not Disturb' mode but, this cannot be done in silent mode.

However, the alarms you set during this mode will go off at the specified time.

Airplane mode operates like switching off but you can scroll through your phone.

In this mode, your cellular network, Wifi and bluetooth connections are automatically disabled.

As the name suggests, it is designed for flights and should be enabled in flights for safety reasons to avoid interference with aircraft signals.

But you can use it in your daily life as well.

The good thing about this mode is that you can use Wifi and bluetooth manually after activating airplane mode.

That means you can use your Wifi at home, office or during flights if available.

Simply long press the plane icon on your phone or go to settings to make the necessary changes.
