A Kenyan is set to receive the Special African Business Leadership Impact Award during the 15th African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) scheduled for July 9–10, 2025, in London, United Kingdom.
Stephen Ochieng’ Nyandiare, Chairman of Dexis Group of Companies, will also be inducted into the African Leadership Council (ALC), a forum of influential African business leaders and policymakers.
The award, conferred by the African
Leadership Magazine (ALM), recognises Nyandiare’s role in shaping business and
development policy across the continent.
“Through his companies, Dexis Investment Holdings and Dexis Capital Group, Nyandiare has overseen high-impact investments in Africa and the United Arab Emirates,” African Leadership Magazine said in a press statement.
“His focus has been on projects that
link local resources to global capital markets, with an emphasis on governance,
infrastructure development, and economic reform.”
ALM said Nyandiare’s rise from the informal
settlements of Kisumu to international business prominence highlights a
personal and professional trajectory rooted in resilience and strategic
leadership.
His early career included serving as
the first youth representative in the Office of then Vice President Kalonzo
Musyoka, a role that ignited his advocacy for youth empowerment.
His influence expanded globally after participating in the inaugural Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) launched by former U.S. President Barack Obama.
Nyandiare has since been active in
regional and continental development forums, where he is recognised for his
policy input and economic vision.
The awards ceremony will take place
during the 10th ALM Africa Summit, themed “Africa Forward: Powering Leadership,
Investments, and Competitiveness.”
The summit is expected to convene more than
400 leaders, diplomats, and business executives to discuss Africa’s role in the
global economy.
Beyond business, Nyandiare is also
involved in philanthropic work, particularly in child protection, education,
and gender equity.
He serves as Chairperson of Mama
Ngina Children’s Home and sits on the boards of KEFEADO and the Samburu Girls
Foundation.
Organisers say the award is not just
about business success but also about ethical leadership and social
responsibility. Nyandiare’s recognition, they note, is symbolic of a broader
shift toward African-led economic transformation.
The African Leadership Magazine,
which has run the awards for 19 years, positions the platform as one that
showcases leaders working to tackle the continent’s development challenges
through homegrown solutions.
