The Kenya Universities and Colleges
Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) last week opened the online portal for
students to revise their course choices for the 2025/2026 university and
college placement cycle.
The revision window, which opened on
May 18, 2025, will run until May 27, 2025.
The window gives students who missed
placement in the initial round or those yet to apply a final opportunity to
secure slots in available programmes.
According to KUCCPS, all 2024 KCSE
candidates who did not secure a course during the first application phase,
those who wish to change courses and universities and Form Four leavers from
previous years who meet the minimum entry requirements can make applications.
Inter-university transfer
To successfully complete an
inter-university transfer through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central
Placement Service (KUCCPS), all you need to do is follow a few steps and
transfer to the University of your Choice.
The first step is logging in to the
KUCCPS student account by entering your details and password. The password is
your KCPE index number or your Birth Certificate number.
Once logged in, click on the
“Transfer” tab at the top of the navigation bar, then begin filling in the
application details. Here, you will input the programme code of the course you
want to pursue at your preferred university.
After completing the application
details, you will need to provide a reason for your transfer from the
university to which KUCCPS originally placed you.
In the next step, a student is
required to make a transfer payment of Sh1,000 per application.
After this, an approval will be
released by the university you are transferring to, followed by an approval
from the university you were initially placed in.
Once both approvals are made, KUCCPS
will review your application and make the final decision.
Once the final approval is granted
by KUCCPS, you can download the transfer letter from the student portal.
However, to be eligible for
transfer, the Placement Service must have placed the applicant in the programme
they are seeking to transfer from.
In addition, you can only transfer
to a course whose minimum requirements you meet.
Applicants to degree programmes must
meet the applicable cut-off point for their respective placement year.
The programme you are applying to
must have been on offer during the year in which you were placed.
Applicants should also note that
they can only apply to transfer to one programme, and the transfer can only be
made once during the duration of the programme placed.
