Pomp and colour in Mombasa fiesta

Kenyans on Wednesday joined the world in ushering in the New Year in style. In Mombasa, thousands of local and foreign tourists converged at Sarova Whitesands Hotel to turn the calendar.

There was lots of entertainment from musicians Gilad, Elani, Atemi and South African stand-up comedian Loyiso Gola. The Master of Ceremony for the night was comedian Jalang'o.

Among notable individuals who attended the event were the Kenya Tourism Board chairperson Jimi Kariuki, who is also the chairperson of Sarova Hotels in Kenya, and Kieni MP Kanini Kega.
