When Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir was called by Mombasa Toa Donge lobby programme co-ordinator Laabeid Mohamed to the Jubilee Hall in Mombasa for an urgent matter on Sunday, he had other plans. He had been planning to celebrate his birthday at the Mewa Hospital with the sick, both young and old.
When he made his way into the Jubilee Hall, he was surprised when he was welcomed by family, friends and some 55 orphans from Ummu-Kheir Jitoni Jomvu Orphanage who then went on to celebrate his birthday.
In attendance were Mombasa businessman and politician Suleiman Shahbal with his wife Rahma and Tononoka MCA Saad Faraj.
