Nairobi is set to host the second edition of Africa's Next Super Model (ANSM).

The event, which is scheduled for October 28, 2023, will be held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Upper Hill.

Four Kenyans, namely, Nelly Atabo, Wilkister Chepkoech, Nancy Njoki, and Agnes Wakoyu, will have the opportunity to dazzle audiences with an electrifying fusion of fashion, culture, and talent.

The runway show will bring together the finest models and designers from across the African continent. Participating countries include South Africa, Uganda, Nigeria, Burundi, Rwanda, and Ethiopia.

The maiden edition of ANSM was held in Kigali, Rwanda, in November 2022, laying the foundation for the continued success and growth of the competition.

Burundi’s beauty queen, Niteka Marvella, won the first edition and was awarded $5,000 in prize money.

Isis Models International CEO Joan Okorodudu expressed her joy for this year's event, with over 31 agents registering to take part in the runway show.

Six years ago, the Nigerian-born CEO and ex-beauty queen raised her concerns over the use of foreign models in Nigerian advertisements by Nigerian companies.

The ban on the use of foreign models was finally implemented in 2022.

She believes young people are the greatest asset in the African creative space and should be taken seriously for Africa to develop and compete globally.

Furthermore, the event will provide a platform to scout Africa's finest raw talent in the modelling industry and turn them into world-class professional models.

The modelling competition celebrates African diversity and inclusivity, with some of the models hailing from the Kakuma refugee camp and other East African camps.

Nelly Atabo, one of the models representing Kenya, is from the Kakuma refugee camp.

Models will begin to arrive in Kenya on October 20, 2023, and the top 20 will have the opportunity to shine on the runway.

The prize money for this year's winner still remains at $5,000 (Sh739,000).
