A powerful state agency often on the spot for lavish spending of public cash could once again be in the limelight. The agency has recalled job applicants who recently failed job interviews for the various positions it intends to fill. Corridors understands the lot, some of whom do not understand the roles of the entity, were recalled two weeks ago. This dismayed the successful candidates who have been eagerly waiting for appointment letters. It was not immediately clear why the second interview was called. However, some insiders say the move is a plot to have ‘weak individuals’ fronted by top officials at the agency get the jobs.

Just why has a party boss allied to one of the leading political coalitions suddenly taken a backseat in the presidential campaigns? The man has not attended a single campaign rally for nearly a month now. The politician, who had been promised a powerful position should the alliance win, has realised he has fallen out of favour with the alliance's honchos. This is after it emerged the coalition’s top brass was considering another party leader, whom they have termed as experienced for the influential position. The man now feels deceived and is seriously considering pulling out of the coalition altogether.

A UDA legislator from the Rift Valley is intensely lobbying for Deputy President William Ruto to visit his constituency before the election. The going is getting tough for the lawmaker, who has been pushed to the wall by independent candidates. In the last two weeks, he has reached out to some DP handlers to persuade their boss to visit his area. With the visit, he hopes Ruto will endorse him as the party’s choice and wade off the independents, who are giving him sleepless nights. However, nothing tangible seems to be coming out of his efforts with barely 28 days to the polls.
