Pilau is a popular East African dish made commonly with beef or chicken.

It is basically rice cooked in various herbs and spices such as onion and garlic powder, paprika, and thyme

In most cases people use meat but today I will teach you how to prepare chicken pilau for dinner.

To make your delicious meal you need these ingredients.

Ingredients 

  • 250 grams of chicken
  • Two cups of rice 
  • Two cloves of garlic
  • One ginger 
  • Cooking oil 
  • Pilau mix 
  • Salt 
  • Water 

Preparation 

Step 1 

Boil the chicken until tender then leave it to cool and remove the bones. Cut it into small pieces.

Step 2 

Chop the onions and crush the garlic and ginger together.

Step 3 

Heat enough oil in a sufuria and fry the onions until golden brown. Then add garlic, ginger salt, and pilau mix and allow it to cook for about five minutes.

Step 4 

Sort and wash the rice then add it to the fried onions.

Stir for a while then add chicken to the rice and stir to mix it.

Step 5

Continue to stir until the rice starts sticking at the bottom of the sufuria then add four cups of boiled water.

Step 6 

Allow it to cook until most water is absorbed. Reduce the heat then cover it using a clean lid and allow slow cooking.

Step 7 

Once cooked, serve on a plate and enjoy your meal while still hot.
