Nigerian chef Hilda Baci breaks Guinness World Record for longest cooking time

She cooked round the clock, with no sleep the entire time.

A 27-year-old Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has just broken the Guinness World Record for the longest Cooking time held by an individual.

The Chef who runs a restaurant in Nigeria dubbed My Food by Hilda has broken the world record after cooking for over 88 hours non-stop.

The previous record was held by chef Lata Tandon from India who cooked for 87hr 45min in September 2019.

A Kenyan lady Maliha Mohammed 2019 also set a record for cooking at the Bay Beach Hotel in Mombasa and spent 75hrs and 3 minutes cooking.

Hilda Baci aims at setting a new Guinness World Record by cooking for 96 hours straight which is 9hrs more than the current record.

She is not allowed to sit while cooking and she has been cooking for the past 4 days to set the new record.

During the cooking marathon, Hilda has been accorded support by several Nigerian celebrities among them singer Tiwa Savage.

Nigerian have been camping at Amore Gardens, Lekki, Lagos State, in Support of Hilda and her mission. 

She must stand to cook, and she is not permitted to sit while cooking.

Hilda is also not allowed to take coffee, stimulants, or any energy drink to artificially boost her energy and bodily strength while cooking

She cooked round the clock, with no sleep (morning, afternoon, evening, and night). 

She has just 5 minutes rest per hour (meaning for every 1 hour, she is entitled to just 5 minutes rest or break,  that's an hour break in every 12 hours).

Whatever she cooks is shared with the people at the venue for FREE. She is not selling the food.

The Guinness Book of world records was created to put together extraordinary achievements accomplished by people all over the world.

Africans have also not been left behind in appearing in the Book of Records

South African Vuyolwethu Simanile, set the Guinness World Record for most chicken feet eaten in a minute.

Johannes Relleke was stung by over 2,443 bees at the Kamativi Tin Mine in Gwaii River, Zimbabwe on January 28, 1962. Setting a record for the most stung person.

Ingar Valentyn, a South African national, set the world record for making the most cups of tea in one hour. She made 249 cups of rooibos tea.

The world’s oldest person to begin primary school is Kimani Maruge, who was 84 years old when he enrolled in primary school in Kenya in 2004.

In 2013, 300,000 Nigerian students from 600 public secondary schools in Lagos set a new record for the most number of people brushing their teeth. They brushed their teeth simultaneously for one minute at 376 separate locations.

Many more Africans have made it to the Guinness Book of Records and Nigerians have really come out in numbers to show support for Hilda Baci as she sets her record.
