Wama Boutique Hotel, a newly opened hotel in Lavington, Nairobi, is making waves with its style and menu. It is a bustling destination for art lovers and clients who enjoy fine dining indoors and outdoors.

The restaurant offers a broad menu that not only caters to everyday meals but also to vegans, vegetarians, lactose and gluten intolerant clients, living true to its motto: fusion and inclusion.

It is tucked away along Muthangari Road, a little way down the turnoff to Braeburn school. The restaurant is set in a serene, spacious and lush green area away from the hustle and bustle of the city, making it a hidden, must-explore gem.

The outdoor area has three different setups to cater to its different clientele. The first area is a chilled, round bar gazebo with contemporary music playing from the speakers. It has wooden benches and seats with well-crafted and smoothed wooden tables to go along. It also has some customised bright barrels acting as tables to add an edgy vibe to the place.

The second area is a well-mowed garden with a man-made cascading waterfall fountain and a fish pond surrounded by well-arranged rocks, trees and other vegetation. The garden area offers a relaxing atmosphere where one can dine while enjoying the fresh breeze, beautiful scenery and urban music playing from the indoor speakers.

The upper part of the garden is being transformed into a kids' play area and usually houses a trampoline, bouncing castle and their learning arts and painting area on Sundays.

Lastly, they have the pool area, which has an all-white theme, with pieces of African Ankara print decorating the walls and old Victorian outdoor furniture. The pool area also has an open drink bar that is scheduled to offer milkshakes, juices and other refreshing drinks.

Captivating is an understatement when talking about the indoor dining area at Wama. The restaurant has golden brown with large windows and a huge shiny carving of a tree with extending branches on the wall around the fireplace, which illuminates the entire room.

The carved tree reflects light from the slightly low-hanging chandeliers well placed around the dining area. It is spacious and has brilliant lawn-green cushioned seats, with white table cloths covering the tables. Another captivating aspect of the restaurant is an art piece of the Nairobi urban life, which illuminates, depicting things such as traffic lights.

The ambience is brilliant, the choice of colours is truly remarkable and so are the art pieces strategically placed around. It makes for such an ideal dating spot, and the tranquillity at the restaurant, with smooth acoustic music smoothly playing over the speaker, is unmatched.

Upstairs, they have a large ballroom with different paintings, from abstract to impressionism and conceptual art displayed for viewing and purchase if interested. The artist details and price of the art are attached to each piece.

The restaurant is a work in progress and soon will have a spa, sauna and boutique rooms under its roof. The services are not only incredible but also fast, and the staff is really friendly, giving the place a warm feel.

Wama should be on your bucket list if you wish to enjoy dining with a twist plus free art viewing for the win. We all do enjoy some freebies here and there.

Wheelchair accessibility has been put into consideration by the management and the hotel has accessible car parks, entrance and seating areas as well.

They are open daily from 8am to 7pm.
