Citizen TV retains dominance as TV47 beats giants to rank fourth most watched TV

Citizen TV  has retained its position as the most-watched TV in the country.

A survey by Infotrak ranked Citizen first at 81%, NTV second at 28% and KTN  third at 19%.

TV47, a TV station that is barely five years old, has been ranked the fourth most currently watched television station in the country according to the same survey by Infotrak.

The TV station beat stations that were established long ago to stamp authority at the fourth place.

The survey, conducted between 27 and 29 January 2024, ranked TV47 with a percentage of 15 per cent.

"Launched in 2019, TV47 has seen tremendous growth in its audience and influence over the years, thanks to unique content and programming, in the spirit of its motto - 'The Home of Untold Stories'," Macharia Wamugo,  the Cape Media Group Editorial Director, said while reacting to the results.

Wamugo described the ranking as motivation given that they are a new baby in the block.

He said they are committed to scaling greater heights with unmatched programming.

TV47’s Willis Raburu, Dr Ofweneke, Size 8 & DJ Mo, Fred Indimuli and Liz Mutuku are among the top talents changing the face of local content.

Covering all 47 counties and enjoying a 97% response rate, the survey showed that the highest age group watching TV47 was between 18-26.

The survey indicated that nearly two-thirds of Kenyans have watched TV47, with 65% of the respondents answering "Yes' to the question "Do you watch TV47?".

In the North Eastern region, 73% of the respondents watched TV47, followed by Coast at 71%.

Ideally, 9% of the respondents (also ranked 4th) said that they would replace their most-watched station with TV47.
