Former IEBC Chairman Ahmed Issack Hassan has said he wishes he had Chris Musando on his team as he presided over the 2013 general election.
Hassan, in an interview with Citizen Tv on Wednesday night, said though he had never worked with Musando, who joined the commission as he exited, he had been following Musando's interviews with journalists.
Musando has been explaining how he was going to work with new technology during the general elections.
"And I even called Ezra Chiloba who was the CEO and told him Musando was very good. I wish we had him in 2013 because some of the things that went wrong, he could have assisted us," he said.
Before the general elections were held in 2017, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ICT data manager Chris Musando was found dead in late July.
His body was found at Muguga Forest in Kikuyu bearing strangulation marks and incisions on the right hand.
Musando's death sent shock waves in the commission that even the then Chairman of the Commission, Wafula Chebukati, went on TV to say he could guarantee a free and fair election because of the incident.
Ahead of the 2017 general elections, Hassan received a call from Chebukati informing him that Musando was missing.
Musando had been missing for almost a day.
Hassan decided to follow up on Musando's disappearance by calling some of the staff at the commission.
"They were all quite anxious about the disappearance," Hassan said.
It was on that weekend that Musando's body was found naked with strangulation marks.
"I was very saddened. I think it sent a very big message to the staff and the commissioners also that if they mess up their fate would be like that of Musando's," Hassan said.
Hassan said Musando's death affected many who worked at the Commission.
"I feel very sad because up to now nobody has been arrested or charged. It appears that we have just forgotten about him," Hassan said.
