Nigerian artist Tems cancels Kenyan show

She says the decision is due to circumstances beyond her control.

Nigerian artist Temilade Openiyi alias Tems has said that she will not be performing at her scheduled Kenyan show.

The award winning artist on Thursday took to twitter to express her disappointment.

She said cancelling the show was due to circumstances beyond her control.

"Hey Kenya . Honestly, it’s quite heartbreaking to say this but I will not be able to perform at the Tukutane Festival due to circumstances beyond my control. I am as disappointed as you all are but I look forward to coming and giving you a show that you deserve. Love you all,'' she tweeted.

Tems was to perform at the Tukutane Festival scheduled to take place on the  October 15 at Waterfront Karen in Nairobi.

The Nigerian artist was recently recognised by BET in the US.

She was crowned the 2022 best international act at the ceremony in Los Angeles.

The 27-year-old is best known to fans outside of Nigeria for her huge hit with Wizkid in 2020, called Essence.

A later remix of that song featuring Canadian star Justin Bieber was also named best collaboration at the BET award.
