A circumciser and four women
were arraigned in Narok on Thursday for allegedly engaging in the outlawed female genital mutilation.
The four - Mercy Chepkorir, Faith Chebet, Joan Chebet and Faith Chepkorir Yegon - underwent the rite on November 22
at Kutete village in Narok West sub-county.
They were charged with allowing the offence to take place at their homes.

Elena Tereget, the circumciser, was charged with knowingly performing the rite.
The five denied the charges before senior principal magistrate Tito Gesora.
The four were released on
Sh75,000 bond or Sh50,000 cash bail each in the case that will be heard on December 4.
The court denied Tereget bail since records showed she was not a first-time offender.
Prosecution counsel David Mwangi
added that her release would create room for more women to be circumcised during the holiday.
A ruling on her release will be delivered on November 29.
In September, an anti-FGM organisation kicked off a sensitisation drive in Marakwet ahead of the November-December circumcision season.
Marakwet Girls Foundation said it would educate girls in schools in the Kerio Valley where female circumcision is rampant.
