The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance bi-partisan team has turned down an invitation by National Assembly leader Kimani Ichung'wah to meet to break ground for negotiations.
The coalition's co-chair Otiende Amollo has instead called for a parallel inaugural meeting for the two negotiation teams on Thursday.
The meeting will be held at Serena Hotel from 8 am.
Letters seen by the Star on Tuesday, one addressed to Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina and the other to Tharaka MP George Murugara invited them to the meeting.
Amollo noted that he was the co-chair of Azimio La Umoja/Kenya Kwanza Bipartisan Dialogue Team as the ruling alliance is yet to appoint one.
"Taking note that no person has, to the best of my knowledge, been appointed as Co-Chair for the Kenya Kwanza Coalition, and alive to the reality that time is of the essence in this endeavour, I hereby invite you to an inaugural meeting of the Two Bipartisan Negotiation Teams at the Serena Hotel on 20th April 2023, starting 8:00 am sharp," the letter reads in part.
Of the 14 bipartisan members, the Star has learnt, only Eldas MP Adan Keynan was left out of the invitation.
Azimio wants the MP to be removed from the Kenya Kwanza seven.
"Keynan was elected to Parliament through the Jubilee party which is under Azimio. President William Ruto should let our people be, leave our people alone," leader Raila Odinga said on Sunday.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna told the Star they will not participate in the meeting convened by Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah.
"We will not touch anything bunge (Parliament) including tea," Sifuna said.
Earlier on, Ichung'wah invited the co-chairs of the bipartisan team to a meeting on Thursday to harmonise and agree on the terms of reference.
The Ichung'wah meeting was to be also attended by Majority Leaders in both houses of Parliament from 11 am.
Azimio's team of negotiators include Amollo, Ole Kina, Sifuna, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua and MPs Amina Mnyanzi (Malindi), Millie Odhiambo (Suba North) and David Pkosing (Pokot South).
Kenya Kwanza team include Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei, Nominated Senator Essy Okenyuri, Taita Taveta Woman Representative Lydia Haika, Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, Murugara and Keynan.
