OBUHATSA: Principals should stick to government fee structure

We trust school managers will stick to them as a way of supporting the poor parents.

In Summary
  • Without funds, principals are not able to run schools and therefore parents have a major role in supporting school managers by paying fees on time.

  • Edu Afya scheme has been good for the poor parents and if removed many will suffer.

We wish to welcome back all the learners to school considering that the school calendar is resuming its normality after the Covid-19 pandemic.

It's an exciting moment for parents, teachers and learners to get back to this calendar once more since 2020.

Parents are worried that school heads and Principals might decide to charge extra levies and yet the government fees are already a problem for some parents who might not meet the difference given.

As parents Association we are requesting school managers to treat these concerns carefully by involving parents where need may arise so that it's teamwork.

We understand that the school fee structure from the government is out.

We trust school managers will stick to them as a way of supporting the poor parents.

Without funds, principals are not able to run schools and therefore parents have a major role in supporting school managers by paying fees on time.

Edu Afya scheme has been good for the poor parents and if removed many will suffer.

The government should be clear on the same to parents on what alternatives will be put in place to rescue the poor child's life in case of changes.

For Junior Secondary School intern teachers, the matter is before the court and we have no moral authority to discuss it at our level for now.

However, parents will not allow children to stay without teachers now that schools have opened.

We support and go by the government that there are no funds to offer them permanent and pensionable jobs till 2025 January.

The Teachers Service Commission has all the plans on how to help these teachers in future.

Should they decide to stay away from duty the river will take its course.
