In Summary

  • Islamic Iran has made tremendous advances in education, infrastructure, human development, and science and technology
  • Over the past 44 years, Iran has sprung up in all dimensions one after another.
A wave of unrest has rocked Iran since 22-year-old Amini died on September 16 following her arrest by the morality police in Tehran for allegedly breaching the country's strict rules on hijab headscarves and modest clothing.

February 11 is a special day for Iranians, as it marks the day of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the 44th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of 1979.

Each year millions of Iranians take to the streets in Tehran and other Iranian cities to express their support for the revolution that overthrew the US puppet Shah and instituted the world’s first Islamic Republic.

In Nairobi, Iranian ambassador Dr Jafar Barmaki will host members of the diplomatic corps and Iranians living in Kenya for a reception to mark this momentous occasion.

Under the leadership of Imam Khomeini, the Iranian people not only overthrew the Shah, a US puppet but also embarked on a course to make the country totally independent of the oppressive and exploitative policies of all tyrannical powers, especially the US.

Despite nonstop regime change efforts by the world’s most powerful empire, the Islamic Republic has not just endured, it has thrived. Some see the Islamic Republic’s survival as a miracle.

In its 44-year existence, Iran has faced internal sabotage, a campaign of assassinations of its leading figures and a Western-backed war of aggression that lasted eight years (1980-1988). It has also been subjected to decades of illegal sanctions led by the US.

Any other country would have collapsed long ago. Not so the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran’s courageous resistance against US hegemony is not simply laudable, but inspirational for peoples everywhere who are suffering from what might be termed postmodern, neocolonial oppression by the US and its allies.

The devastation caused by the US in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as Washington’s ongoing support for the Zionist regime, has underscored Iran’s regional importance and confirmed the Islamic Republic’s leading role in defending the weak against the powerful.

Islamic Iran has made tremendous advances in education, infrastructure, human development, and science and technology despite all-out western economic warfare and draconian sanctions.

Over the past 44 years, Iran has sprung up in all dimensions one after another.

Globally speaking, being among a few countries in the field of science production, nuclear and satellite technology, ranking fourth in nanotechnology, fifth in drone manufacturing, fifth in cyber power, ninth in access to space, first in attracting medical tourists in the region all reflect Iran’s success in the past four decades.

Today after 44 years of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Iran has consolidated itself both domestically and regionally by developing itself into a dominant regional power.
