Laxity of police doing patrols hurts war on crime in Mombasa

Reports have been circulating that police go around arresting innocent residents

In Summary

• Youth gangs robbing the public and commit other crimes against them not a new story in Mombasa.

• County security department and state should find ways to tackle crime completely.

Insecurity will never end if no right measures are taken to curb the problem that has caused headaches to Mombasa residents.

Cases of teenagers forming gangs to commit attacks, steal from residents, commit murder and other crimes has become the daily chat among victims and witnesses.

A major problem occurs when reports have been circulating that the police on patrol are not doing their job as required and instead roam about and arrest innocent people residing along the Mombasa streets.

The security department of the county and the national government should come up with ways of settling the common problem of insecurity so as to make Mombasa a peaceful town for living and doing business as it had been a long time ago.
