• To paraphrase the Bible, of what use will it be to gain the world and loose your soul (children)?

• Let the children enjoy the holidays but ensure we keep a close tab on their activities.

The December school holiday is here and it will see students stay at home until the tail end of January.

It gives children a good rest after a gruelling year, which saw them learn back-to-back with very short breaks following the Covid-19 pandemic disruption of the school calendar.

School keeps children busy and away from mischief, easing the pressure on parents.

With the long break and with the children now solely in their hands, parents must actively step in and play their role.

Society is no longer the keeper of their brothers and today's children are growing up in a very difficult environment.

Crime has gone up, kidnapping of children and demand of ransom is on the rise, drugs are easily available, dirty content on various media platforms is just a click away, leaving the children very vulnerable.

It is for this reason that parents must take charge and not delegate the upbringing of their children to their house managers.

You can never be too busy chasing the shilling to the extent of not having time for your children.

To paraphrase the Bible, of what use will it be to gain the world and loose your soul (children)?

Let the children enjoy the holidays but ensure we keep a close tab on their activities.
