Social media sites

The use of internet has now grown rapidly compared to the past.

The world has become a global village with high technological advancements.

Content creating has become a new norm as citizens compete in creativity.

A larger population is now involved in content creation online: YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and many other sites.

This is not the first time we are writing about the safety of content creators.

Barely a month ago a Kenyan TikTok content creator allegedly swallowed a spider.

This shocked netizens when it was alleged that the content creator ended up in hospital with a swollen face.

Mixed reactions emerged among netizens with some condemning the act while others cheered up the so-called extraordinary content.

Youths are the most people involved in content creation as they grow their channels and social networks.

Another incident that happened was of a Kenyan lady who went live on Facebook as she enjoyed swimming.

It is so sad that she died as seen in the video struggling and trying to call out for help.

The live video went on for a couple of hours before she was found dead.

Netizens have sent condolences to the family of the deceased as they urge content creators to keep safety the priority.

We can’t continue with such cases.

People are doing extremely dangerous acts to gain fame and entertain viewers or content consumers in the line of risking their lives.

Let not the internet make use of us, instead, we should learn to use the internet appropriately in whatever case.

Netizens should also come out strongly to condemn those who risk their lives in the name of content creation. Some content on the internet is disturbing to watch.

Remember even young children are consuming the content on the internet.

They might end up trying to create such content hence risking their lives unknowingly.

We need to find a way of filtering content before being posted on social media platforms.

This will help us save lives and even learn to you the internet responsibly.

The government and concerned stakeholders should come out to educate netizens on the safest ways of using the internet.

Say no to dangerous content creation.
