University students reject 'stingy' presidential aspirant

Did a high-ranking ODM figure rebuke a Nairobi aspirant as party leader Raila Odinga watched? Well, it is reported that the aspirant was confronted by the top party honcho and reprimanded for seeking the ODM ticket for a parliamentary seat in a constituency where a popular governor has a preferred candidate. The aspirant, who hoped to try his luck in the ODM party to run in the populous Nairobi constituency, flew back to Nairobi a dejected man. The aspirant is said to be shopping for another party within the Azimio La Umoja to face the governor's favourite.

Is a vocal governor from the Rift Valley covertly campaigning for the county speaker to succeed him? Corridors of Power is aware that the county chief has been feigning neutrality at public events while at the same time secretly taking sides in favour of the speaker. The governor had initially been seen as supporting his second-in-command before he appeared to change his mind. Lately, he has slammed brakes on his support for his deputy as the August 9 general election nears. There is suspicion that nominations might not be free and fair, with the governor already having taken sides ahead of the primaries of a popular party in the region.

It emerged that the rebellion emanated from lack of 'facilitation'. The delegates expected some handouts but were disappointed after they left empty-handed. Most of them ended up dumping party merchandise at the party headquarters.
