Iran has launched missiles at US airbases in Qatar and Iraq in response to strikes on its nuclear sites on Saturday, state media reports
Qatar has temporarily closed its airspace, forcing planes to divert away from Doha—one of the world's busiest airports.
The US and UK citizens have been advised to shelter in place.
In a post on social media, Qatar says this is part of a set of precautionary measures being taken based on developments in the region.
Qatar is home to the largest US military base in the Middle East, Al Udeid Air Base. About 8,000 US citizens live there, according to the State Department.
Iran is weighing a response to Saturday's US strikes on its nuclear facilities, which US President Donald Trump says caused "monumental damage."
Trump will attend a National Security Council meeting shortly, after the White House earlier said he was "simply raising a question" in floating the idea of regime change in Iran.
It comes as Israel says it is targeting Tehran with "unprecedented force", including attacks on "access routes" to the Fordo nuclear site and Evin prison.
Meanwhile the first evacuation flight for British nationals has left Israel, Foreign Secretary David Lammy says.
US says aware of threats to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar
A senior US official tells the BBC that the White House and the Department of Defense are aware of, and are closely monitoring, potential threats to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
Their confirmation comes as we report there are "credible threats" to the US-run Coalition Air Operations Centre at that air base, located just outside Doha.
