Endometriosis is a chronic condition affecting about 1 in 10 women of reproductive age.

It occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, often in the pelvis but sometimes in the abdomen.

This abnormal tissue can cause inflammation, severe menstrual pain, heavy bleeding, chronic pelvic pain, bloating, nausea, and fertility challenges. Some women may have mild symptoms or none at all.

The condition is linked to family history and other immune disorders.

Diagnosis often involves ultrasound, MRI, or laparoscopy.

While there is no cure, treatments—including medication or surgery—can manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

Awareness and early intervention are key to better outcomes.
